Over the years, since Netaji died, there has been a controversy about the way in which he died. The debate will continue to go on as long as people dont get any hard evidence confirming that he had indeed died in a plane crash.
There were 2-3 commissions to find out the facts about the death. There were/are allegations that the government had always tried to cove-up the incident from public due to unrest problems. there are quite a few NGOs and organisations trying to find out the real facts about his death.
Latest Development:
Very recently there has been an interesting development in this regard. An organisation based in Delhi had sought information and/or documents for the government departments. It had done so, under the RTI act.
It had sought those documents/informations based on which the commissions had declared that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had indeed died in a plane crash. The government thus released very interesting and untold articles thus far to the public.
Habib ur Rahman:
Habib Ur Rahman was a very close aide of Bose. He had told the investigators that, on August 8,1945, Bose had boarded a plane from Taipei in Taiwan. The plane had just taken off when there was a terrifying sound of explosion inside the plane.
The plane subsequently lost control and was shaking terribly. After sometime it exploded and caught fire.
Bose who was sitting just beside a petrol tank, was severly injured in head and shoulder region. He also suffered from burn injuries. The burning oil from the tank had spilled over him.
Rahman had removed the burning clothes from his body inorder to save him from any further burn injury. He recovered a bit and could even talk with Rahman later.
Other Documents:
The organisation has also sought reports and documents which were communicated between the government departments and between governments of different countries.
My views:
As I have stated above, there were 2-3 fact finding commissions and they had conflicting reports. Then the government tried or rather tries to hide real facts from the public due to the fear of backlash. The real thing, it seems will never come out of the public. And the debate will continue for ever.
Lets see what this organisation has to say about these reports..
