During this time of the year, my dad, with a manager of our business goes out to invite the customers for an annual get-together. Its mainly a goodwill gesture after round the of conducting business. They mainly go to different districts of kolkata where our market is generally situated.
I only go sometimes, when I feel-like going just for the sake of driving! Coz I really love driving.
But this year was a different year till now.
It was made compulsory for me to accompany them!
Coz the driver did not turn up. Though he had informed us about his not being present.
In our country its not quite safe to leave the car parked on the roadside and go to somewhere. the car might be damaged - intentionally or unintentionally, it can be stolen, music system inside the car can be stolen, etc. So I had to go.
The problem was the heat. The weather here in Kolkata or West Bengal is not very good right now. There`s been no rain since the past 3-4 weeks and the waether is really hot. many people have died due to heat-stroke or sun-stroke, have fallen ill. The temperature is varying between 36C - 40C. Add to that 80%-90% humidity! those who haven`t experienced this kind of weather, will not know how bad it is.
Now I had to sit inside the car or had to stay around it while it was parked under the sun. It really got inside my nerve. We had started the journey at 6 am and returned home at 8pm. Travelled for around 280kms. Though the customers provided us with cold drinks and snacks but all those things had little effect.
And this routine went on for 2 consecutive days!
And that is again going to happen on Sunday!
My dad and I, we are suspecting that the driver purposely didnt turn up with false reason just because of this heat!
We have already started looking for a responsible driver to replace him.
Hoping to get one soon.
