Such a horrible test match it was. Such idiotic it was. Such a biased test it was. Such a hopeless game of cricket it was. Such a ridiculous game it was. A nonsense game of cricket it was…
Please tell me some more adjectives in those lines which I can put up there.
Did you see the test? I had seen it. And after a long time that I had seen or followed a test so closely. And ultimately what a test I had seen…
For those of you who are thinking whats going on here or which test I am talking about, then here it is. The test match was played between India and Australia. It was the second test match of the India tour to Australia. Dated 2-01-08 to 6-01-08.
Umpires Game…
It all started from the first day of the test. Australia was batting then. Umpires for the test were Steve Bucknor, Mark Benson and Bruce Oxenford.
Australia was under a bit of pressure when they were 45 for 2. Ricky Ponting was playing on 17. He nicked a ball which was drifting down the leg to the wicket-keeper. He was straight away given not out.
Then comes Andrew Symonds. He was out three times in his innings of 137n.o. He was lucky, infact very lucky on 30,48,106. With his luck favouring him tremendously, he anchored the Australian ship and actually steered it to 463 from 134 for 6.
He is proving here what Harbhajan allegedly called him. A monkey!
Did you notice what bad, terribly bad decision for one team and terribly `good` decision for another team can do to a test match?
Wait its not finished yet. More to come.
Come to the last day now. When India is under tremendous pressure to save the test match and sebsequently some hope for revival in the test series.
Rahul Dravid was adjudged caught behind bowled by Symonds. The problem with this statement is a batsman cant be given out when the ball brushes the pads of the batsman while it is taken by the wicket-keeper. Thats what exactly happened in this caes.
The ball slightly brushed off the pads of Dravid when it was taked by the keeper, Gilchrist . Suddenly all the players behind the wicket a monkey(Symonds) in front of it strated jumping in the air. Whereas it was clearly shown in the footage that his bat and glooves were behind his pads when he reached out for the ball.
Then Yuvraj came to the crease and nicked a ball in the same over of that monkey to Gilchrist.
Did you again see the effect of the `bad`/`good` decision?
Even the ball in which Laksman was bowled in the first innings was a no ball from Lee.
Then comes Ganguly.
He was actually playing very positively. As one can expect him to play when he is in the form in which he is. He suddenly edged a ball from Lee to the slips. Clarke dived forward on the ball and `caught` it. Now the word caught is in brackets because the umpire Mark Benson was not sure whether he really caught it or not. He asked Ponting about it! :-O Who himself didnt go after he was out edging the ball to the keeper. What on earth made Benson think that he was telling the truth?
Sunil Gavaskar was commenting at that time and he was absolutely furious about it. He was telling that how can a umpire take a decision based on a fielder`s veiws or comments? If thats the case then why not he listen to the batsman.
As if the umpires have been bribed for such type of decisions. Or have they been threatened? I really dont know.
And Finally…
India had to give-in to the odds against them. They finally lost the match when only one over was left or around 8mins. of game was remaining. Though captain Kumble played a captain`s innings and tried his best to save the game.
Dont you think that the umpires should also join here?
And thats expected isnt it?

Nothing unusual. Bucknor is known to be partial against indians :@
