We actually visited the place yesterday. I was so tired, that couldnt sit and compile the article.

Irresponsible Car Service…

Since we were six of us (family members), we had decided to take a car from a car service. We had booked a Scorpio for this purpose. It was asked to report at 5.30 am. Since it wouldnt be able to find home and there will be no one to ask about the address in the eraly hours of the morning my dad and i decided to to go to the nearest crossing and recieve the car from there.

But the car was not coming. We waited and waited… There was no sign of the car. Dad called the link person 3-4 times. he kept saying that it had left and that it would reach you within 15 min. We waited there, braving the cold wind that was blowing smoothly over our body bruising it with severe coolness.

The feeling was terrible. We were supposed to go to a place with fresh and healthy mind. But that was not to be. The anxiety level were rising all the time. Shivering with cold. Thinking what could be the next move, all the time.

And then the dicision was made!

Dad told me that we will take our car and go!

Thus our driver was informed and told to get ready at once. The time then was 6.30 am. We went back to our home and took out the car and left. Without the driver!

….. No we actually picked him up from his home, as that saved our time.

The Places…

Kamarkupur…

We reached Kamarpukur(kamar-means people who works with iron, pukur-pond). The village is actually named after a pond there. It was around 112 kms from Kolkata. Its actually a village in the Hoogly Zilla(division),West Bengal. This is the place where Shri Ramkrishna was born. He was a great saint. He was the guiding force behind Vivekananda. Vivekananda was what he was because of Shri Ramkrishna. He was an angel in one word. Its better if i give you all a link, for you all to know more about him.

The place is very well maintained by Ramakrishna Mission. It was established by Vivekananda himself. The aim was to spread the awareness about his teacher Ramakrishna. The institute still does the same thing with great pride and honour. It also has education department, social department, medical department etc. The institute now has presence in many parts of the world. These 2 links will help you find out more about it.

Jairambati…

This is another village. It is located 6 kms from Kamarkupur. Jairam(Jairam- just a name, bati- home). Its the place where Shri Ramakrishna`s wife was born. Shri Sharada Devi. Even she led as simple a life as her divine husband. One can find out more about her here-

The place is also maintained by Ramkrishna Mission. We saw where she lived. Her kitchen, Her living room.

Overall the journey was a delighting one, a purely knowledgeable one. A very rich experience. These are some of the pictures which i could take. use cameras were actually strictly prohibited.
