Do you know what does Web2.0 mean? I am sure you dont know what it means, right? Because if you had known then you wouldnt be reading this post afterall, isnt it? Or maybe you have an idea about it and want to enrich it.
But let me tell you one thing- that we all are using web2.0 applications or products without knowing it!
Anyway even I didnt know what it was actually! So did a bit of searching and came up with lots of results. After reading few articles, I understood that it will be best if we can know what are the products/applications or the end results of web2.0. That way we will get a first hand example also.
Thus listing the products that we see or use here in internet day in and day out :-
Forums:
Yes. This is actually an example or a product of web2.0. Did you ever think of it? Atleast I didnt! I thought it just evolved from nowhere. And with this, people started forming communities and sharing ideas and news or whatever they felt like sharing in keeping with the forum rules and regulations. To sum it up, it is just a platform where like-minded people gather to discuss or share or work jointly.

Wiki:
You heard about wiki right? Yes its also a product of web2.0! The word `wiki wiki` means quickly in Hawaiian language. It is actually defines web page(s) or site(s) that can be edited by users or communities. It can also be said that a veiwable and editable database by just about any user or visitor.

Blog:
Short-form for weB-LOG. This is also known as online diaries. It is mostly updated daily. It consists of, texts,images, links to other related blogs, webpages and or offline articles. Audiences or readers also can leave comments about an article or posts- as it known as in case of a blog.

Mashup:
It means an web application which combines data from different sources and put those in one place for the benefit of its users. Its actually creation of new form of web applications from two or more applications already present online.

RSS, ATOM Feed:
This is actually a very good web2.0 application present in the web. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Its an XML based application which collects feeds from various websites, blogs etc which are regularly updated. A feed reader shows the collected feeds or updates which you selected or want to see. This is very helpful when one wants to keep track of many websites or blogs, which are updated daily. As the person dont need to visit the sites or blogs regularly to be updated. All the updates can be there in the person`s desktop.

Social Bookmarking:
It is actually an old activity with a difference. It is because people are used to bookmarking site or pages for a long time. People can see what other people are bookmarking for further reference. pages or sites are saved with tags, which helps in finding those links easily later on. Thus in this way finding out important sites or information is done quickly.

Social Networking:
This activity over the net has really spreaded like a wild fire! People started making friends with unknown and far-off people. It actually helped in sharing ideas and knowing more about people easily, which otherwise a person wouldnt have known. A lot of activities have grown around social networking.

Then what is Web2.0 ?
Thus we see that web2.0 is nothing but all about interactivity. The static webpages can be turned into interactively built pages, people can collaborate and share ideas, one can get all the updates in one`s desktop from their favourite sites and/or blogs without visiting those etc.
It is only the natural progression in technology that has taken place in the webspace. No new technology has come out and/or can be attributed with web2.0 specifically.
